So, what will I write about? Well, whatever I can come up with. The beauty of blogging is that you can pretty much go anywhere. I don’t have to write a novel, I can merely wake up at 4am, sit in front of the keyboard and talk about the brilliant novel I want to write. But I suspect my writing will be, like my mind and my life, all over the place.
Politics is something I’m interested in (plot reveal: I plan to run for the US Senate in 2042). So, I’ll be talking about current events and the general state of the nation stuff.
Other than politics the only subject that interests me deeply is myself. Ah, yes, I am one of those people. So, other my life as a citizen I suppose I will be writing largely about a rather narrow subject…my life as a father, my life as a poker player, my past and my future. In addition to journaling about random subjects like books and movies I suppose I’ll pry open the old notebooks to see if I can find anything interesting. I also have snippets of my novel in progress (I’ve written nine and one half pages, hold the applause) The Last Grinder or maybeThe Fiddleman Chronicles. I’m 54, unlikely to ever finish or publish a novel, so I want to just get my stuff “out there” as it comes.
The Last Grinder a working title by the way, I’m open to suggestions, although I thought a poker themed title would make sense, for marketing purposes lol. I guess the novel is 50% autobiographical (I won’t be doing a lot of location scouting for this book), it's about Max Fiddleman, a struggling poker pro writing about his life.
I’ve also have a fair amount of notes on a dystopian novel that I am tempted to call Why I Will Be Voting For Sneideman. Currently untitled, the best I have come up with is The Four Sulzmans. It’s about the quadruplet sons of a New York newspaper editor. None of the sons followed their father into the family business as they are spread across the country living very different lives. We meet them just months after the United States has experienced a grievous unexpected attack, a nuclear Pearl Harbor essentially. Not sure who dropped the nukes, possibly China, possibly Israel, possibly a Chinese kid adopted by Jewish Canadian parents with the rare gift of being able to build a nuclear weapon with an efficient delivery system in his own basement. I’ll definitely take suggestions on this one as well, both for the potential book’s title and also if anyone has any ideas on who is most likely to drop a nuke.
Well, time to get to it…I’m the only one capable of telling Max Fiddleman’s story.
