Happy New Year! It’s a time for exciting changes and new beginnings, and that has certainly been reflected in my life. Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been on a journey to revamp and relaunch my business, embracing the world of printable and digital art. I am also on the cusp of what I hope to be a major personal transformation. But that's not all! In the midst of all this evolution, Audrey and I also made the huge decision to move to Nebraska.
One of the most significant changes I’ve made business-wise was shifting the focus of Fabled Fungi towards my printable and digital art. While I love designing crochet hats and embroidery pieces (and am keeping a limited number of commission slots open!), it takes hours to create each individual piece, which I just don’t have the energy to maintain full time right now. Moving toward printables is a fantastic opportunity to reach a wider audience and share my artwork with people all around the world at whatever price point folks are able to pay. (Keep an eye out for a post on my full thoughts about sliding scale payments, but essentially, I’m a Big Fan!)
I also updated the Fabled Fungi Logo and I’m pretty stoked about it!
In the personal realm, I’ve decided my Focus Phrase for the year is Luxuriating in Attending to My Physical Form. I struggle with interoception and knowing what my body needs, which combined with The ADHD Urge(tm) to classify repetitive tasks (ie eating regularly, sleeping regularly, taking care of my body in general) as boring/ tedious has probably not helped my chronic illness situation. So rather than viewing these tasks as monotonous chores, I’ve decided to build them into luxurious daily rituals. I joked that since the initialism for this focus phrase is LAMPF, the symbol of my year should be a moth, but the more I thought about it, the more I connected with The Moth. in addition to some more personal reasons, I too wish to Bask In Light (be that the light of the moon, the sun, my SAD lamp . . . ) Anyway, I made a moth-y sigil for this intention, which got me really into drawing sigils again, so I will likely post more/ may offer personalized sigil making if folks are interested (for free or barter only. . . I don’t like charging for stuff like this).
I’ve also gotten back into using the Notion app again, creating (or downloading then personalizing) and connecting databases to help me manage various aspects of my life- from my day-to-day rituals and cycles, to my business admin, to my gardening plans. You can anticipate some Notion related content in the future, whether that’s just posting about my systems (which are giving me ALL the Happy Brain Chemicals, so I love info-dumping about them!) or even posting the templates for the systems I build myself.
In addition to revamping my business and my personal realms, Audrey and I have made the bold decision to relocate to Omaha, NE! Moving to Omaha offers a significantly reduced cost of living that will allow us the opportunity to co-buy a house so we will not need to keep moving every/other year. I’m confident this haven of stability will provide the opportunity to nurture my artistic journey and take my business to new heights, while also balancing my chronic health issues.
As I reflect on this whirlwind week I'm filled with a sense of optimism and excitement for what lies ahead. With the support of my customers, fellow artists, and the Omaha community, I'm confident that this new chapter will be filled with inspiration, creativity, and success.
