Charyn Canyon and saying goodbye to Kazakhstan

Jun 04, 2026

Hello Everyone!

As we enter June our time in Kazakhstan comes to a close. It was another beautiful country and another chapter in the travels of Moose and Bugs. We'll leave with plenty of good memories and new friends.

Us with Tamerlan and his family sharing a meal at Navat, a famous Central Asian restaurant.

We journeyed east and spent several days exploring the canyons in Charyn Canyon National Park. The experience was like being teleported back to the American Southwest and our only regret was that we didn't stay even longer. (Although 3 nights in the canyons was probably enough for most😊)

Overlooking Charyn Canyon. We explored several lesser visited canyons on the south side of the river.

imageBut most of our time was dedicated to transforming our travel blogs into dedicated and organized guides to help anyone interested explore these beautiful destinations we've been so fortunate to see. Check out the Serbia Overview, Novi Sad or incredible Budapest to get an idea of what's coming.

Tomorrow we leave Almaty but tonight we'll celebrate at the the Abay Kazakh State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater with a performance of Georges Bizet's Carmen. What a mix of culture, history, and nature, and let's not forget our incredibly comfortable apartment. What a journey! See you all in Uzbekistan!
