I am passionate about helping underserved and underrepresented communities. This project to develop a Swahili AI model is a self-funded effort to empower local developers. By creating an open source model for local context, my goal is to provide an alternative to closed source options like GPT, enabling more access and participation in AI development locally.

I have invested my own resources in this initiative because I believe expertise should benefit society. Local experts understand the needs of their communities best. My hope is that this freely available foundation tailored to their needs will allow creators to build solutions that truly serve. Access to tools should not be limited to those who can pay - progress requires that innovation be democratized.
