Today I got two Google Nest Audio speakers playing my Mac’s audio in real left/right stereo. Then I turned the setup into a guide you can use, too.
The test was my own office: a Mac mini M4 and two Nest Audio speakers. I confirmed it by listening—left tone from the left speaker, right tone from the right, then both together.
One pair. Two channels.
The key is to make a stereo pair in Google Home, enable Bluetooth pairing, and connect the Mac to that pair. The Mac sees one audio output; the speakers play separate left and right channels.
Everything you need to try it
A step-by-step guide to pairing the speakers and choosing your Mac’s audio output.
A free, optional Mac helper that opens Apple’s Bluetooth pairing dialog if the normal Connect control gives you trouble.
A left/right listening test so you can check your own setup.
Clear steps to undo the changes.
The helper is available as a prebuilt download for Apple silicon and Intel Macs—no Xcode or compiling required. Update: the download is now Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple. macOS may still show its normal first-open confirmation or ask for Bluetooth access. The source is also available if you prefer to inspect or build it.
This is a setup I tested, with its limits documented. I haven’t measured Bluetooth delay, long playback sessions, or reconnection after sleep.

The guide, helper, and sound test are free. If they save you a few hours of Bluetooth frustration, you can buy me a coffee here and help keep these projects going.
