SnipText ("the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how the Extension handles user data.

The Extension does NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information or user data.
Specifically, the Extension does NOT:

β Monitor your activity across websites (except for detecting your custom trigger keywords)

Data Storage
The Extension stores the following data locally on your device only:
Snippet Data
User-created text snippets and their associated trigger keywords
Rich text formatting within snippets
Settings Data
Sound effect preference (enabled/disabled)
Coffee link interaction state (dismissed/clicked status)
Snippet usage counter (for determining when to show support banner)
This data is stored using the Chrome Storage API and remains on your device. It is:

Chrome Storage Sync
If you are signed into Chrome/Edge with sync enabled, your Extension settings may sync across your devices through Google's sync service. This is controlled by your browser's sync settings, not by the Extension.
Permissions
The Extension requests the following permissions:

Purpose: To save your custom text snippets, trigger keywords, and preferences locally on your device
Data Access: Only accesses data created and stored by the Extension itself
No External Access: Does not access any other browser data, history, or personal information
π Context Menus Permission
Purpose: To provide a right-click menu option for quickly saving selected text as a snippet
Data Access: Only accesses text you explicitly select and choose to save
No External Access: Does not monitor or collect any other page content
π Host Permission (All URLs)
Purpose: To detect when you type your custom trigger keywords and expand them into your saved snippets across all websites
Data Access: Only monitors keyboard input to match your user-defined trigger keywords
Local Processing: All text matching and replacement happens locally on your device
No Data Collection: Does not collect, store, or transmit any website content or typing data beyond snippet expansion
How the Extension Works
The Extension operates entirely within your browser:
Monitors text input fields for your custom trigger keywords
Stores and retrieves snippets from local Chrome storage
Expands snippets in real-time when triggers are detected
Plays optional sound effects using the browser's Web Audio API
Important:
β All processing happens locally on your device
β No network requests are made
β No data is sent to any server

The Extension may contain a link to support the developer via "Buy Me a Coffee" (buymeacoffee.com). Clicking this link:
Opens an external website in a new tab
Is subject to that website's privacy policy
Does not transmit any data from the Extension to that website
Is entirely optional and can be permanently dismissed
