šŸ”„šŸ”„ Pour gasoline on your marketing fire with long form content

Jun 08, 2022

Several times per week someone asks me what the best marketing channel is or what social media platform they should focus on.

I tell them:

1.) Fuck social media. šŸ˜

Social media is not the marketing ā€œfireā€; social media just pours gasoline on the fire.

šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„The fire is long-form content like blogs, podcasts, newsletters, or transformational EXPERIENCES like live webinars, workshops, and masterclasses… And then you share the long-form content / experience ON social media. šŸš€

In other words, you’re creating long-form content / experiences off of social media and then using social media to distribute it and bring attention to it. But using just social media, all by itself? Not many people can pull that off. And it takes so much unnecessary hard work for so little result.

A social media post has a shelflife of minutes, hours or maybe days at most. (TIP: Find my post entitled ā€œAvocado VS. Twinkie Marketing)

A few days from now, this exact post will be lost in the newsfeed forever and will no longer provide value to people. That’s why I’m gonna copy and paste this fucker and send it out as a newsletter and also transform it into a blog.

That way, it gets sent to everyone on my newsletter list and the blog will show up in a Google search.

If you’re only on social media, only an extremely tiny circle of people will be exposed to your content.

There are a million other reason why social media sucks, but I'll do another post on that later.

My personal goal is to be social media free by 2023. Shits toxic. ļ漚Ÿ˜

ļæ¼

2.) ļæ¼But to answer the question about which social media platform is best. There’s absolutely no ā€œone fits all hereā€!! Different platforms work better for different industries and for different individuals. ļæ¼ The fact is, the most effective, and results-proven social media channel on the planet….

IS THE ONE YOU ENJOY THE MOST.

Because the one you enjoy the most and have the most fun on… is the one you’ll show up on consistently. The marketing that feels playful, joyful, easy and fun… That’s what you wanna focus on. Marketing should never feel fucking dreary or dreadful or like something you ā€œhaveā€ to do or like something you’re ā€œsupposedā€ to do.

It's hard, if not damn near impossible, to show up consistently and do something WELL.... if you don't want to and it feels gross.

And, your potential customers can probably feel that.

My philosophy: Marketing should feel sexy. You should love it!! I mean, I sure do. And the crazy thing is, I think you can tell! šŸ˜

I highly doubt you quit your 9-to-5 job and became an entrepreneur because you wanted to do dreary, dreadful, boring shit all day.

Want to talk to me about marketing?

I’m down. šŸ˜Ž

I love marketing like my son Harry loves those dank guava pastries down at the Cuban café.

Marketing is my zone of JOY and zone of genius. I want it to be yours, too.
