If I had to give myself a job title, it would be "poetry advocate." Poetry has much to teach us about living in right relationship with ourselves, with other readers, and with poems. Perhaps there's a reason that one of the Hebrew words in the Bible for "social justice" translates literally to "right relationship."
I increasingly seek to offer my experiences, attention, and presence as a gift. I recognize that the arts flourish best in a gift economy, which means I want to be open to receiving as well as giving. Any gift you feel led to offer me will support the many hours of time and attention that I invest in advocating for poetry. I host poetry feedback groups, poetry reading groups, interactive open mics, and readings with published poets. May we support a healthy ecology together.
