With the climax of elections in St.Vincent and the Grenadines just a few days away, I want to share:
My day job is as a Software Engineer, but I spent hours and hours of free time on decisionsvg over the last few months. I wanted an easier, modern way to review past election results, analyze data and draw my own conclusions. To be honest, the website was and is the easy part. The real hard work came from painstakingly going over the PDFs released by electoral office and transcribing them into coding and algorithm friendly formats.
Creating the hover map of our constituencies was also difficult. I created an .svg file (not to be confused the acronym of our nation!) and labelled each constituency with the relevant data. While many other countries already have their constituency maps online, unfortunately there was none available for SVG. This took me several days to get right as I am admitedly not an .svg expert. Through all this, I’ve left most resources available for free, as I would like Vincentians at home and abroad to be able to freely access this resources.
I would like to keep this website up and running even after elections. Thank you for donating to help cover these costs.
