Rough Cuts (Unpolished, unpublished poems #422B)

Apr 10, 2022

This week's Rough Cuts are especially fresh, having both been written just yesterday. I usually let first drafts sit for a while so they can breathe and I can forget about them to revisit them with a clear and objective mind, at which point I would decide whether they have potential or are complete rubbish (the "what on Earth was I thinking when I wrote that?!" moment). Sharing my "rough cuts" means being extremely vulnerable, and this is as vulnerable as I could possibly get, and I may delete this post in a week. Okay, enough rambling; here are this week's Rough Cuts...

Into Dusk

.

Light leaves quietly,

dragging with it into dusk,

all I am and time.

I am lying here

silently,

in this most delicate hour,

writing this

under the soft warm glow

of my faithful lamp,

knowing

.

you are standing there

silently,

at a most inappropriate time,

reading this

in absolutely the wrong light

on some indifferent screen,

not knowing

.

just how desperately,

silently,

I love you.
