Rough Cuts (unpolished, unpublished poems #1222C)

Dec 09, 2022

In craving, we suffer. In being dissatisfied with our lives, we imprison ourselves in misery. Yet, how many of us, given the opportunity to be free, are ready for true liberation?

.

"So oftentimes it happens that we live our lives in chains, and we never even know we have the key." - The Eagles (Already Gone)

When the bird of truth comes

at dawn

to play at my feet,

should I wake you

Will you rise?

Will you come?

.

When I look into the river

and see, not me, but us,

should I call you?

And if I call you,

Will you look?

And if you look,

will you see?

.

If, while wandering in the wilder-ness,

I stumble unto the path

of light,

dare I beckon you?

And if I interrupt you,

will you hurry?

Will you care?

.

When a song comes to me,

through me,

a wave of love

to wash the world away

in the middle of the night,

should I wake you?

Will you wake up

and sing with me?

.

When I awaken from this dream,

not in, but as light,

should I reach for you?

Will you fear or embrace

your self?

Will you rise and be

free?

.
