You may be asking yourself: Why are so many people running around with foam swords on GCU's Prescott Field?
And no, it is not a LARPing club.
Grand Canyon University's Medieval Combat Club (MCC) is an official, student-run club at GCU. They meet every Wednesday and Friday on Prescott Field from 7 pm - 9 pm to play field games such as Capture the Flag, Circle of Chaos, and Redemption. The catch is that they use DIY foam weapons such as swords, spears, and bo-staffs. This club has created a strong community, with as many as 50 people attending regular meetings.
Anybody is welcome to partake in MCC, as long as they sign the waiver before picking up a weapon to play!

In addition to weekly meetings, MCC hosts two events for its members to enjoy. In the fall semester, they host Midnight Assassin, where members are on a mission to find the most glowsticks hidden around campus, but also fighting for them. In the spring semester, they host Foam Wars, a campus-wide capture-the-flag event.
Members are more than welcome to create their own weapons, as long as an MCC Moderator approves them. For more information on how to create your own MCC foam weapon, come to one of the meetings and speak to a moderator!
