Day 8 - Technical notes - 54/110. This story is bigger than I planned. I think the best part of this challenge is that I’m just writing to write, not writing to produce right away - even though I’m 100% producing this sooner than later. In the end, I can see a few ways this story could play out, but I didn’t choose one. Usually, that’s something I’d have set before I start writing but it’s the wild wild west for these 30 days - maybe an alternate ending?
I was in a writers' group a couple of years ago and we would have daily sprints, the goal was 10 pages. At the time, I was writing the feature script for Follow My Lead. I got that first draft done in 3 months. It was worlds different than how it is now, but it got done. This experience is opening me up to a different way of looking at story development. It’s also the first script I’ll have finished a draft of this year. The way this story’s adding up has me missing being in a group, that consistent creative energy is powerful. This challenge is like, writers group lite. We’re connected for now, and I’m good with that. Maybe, it’s time to get back in a regular group.
Day 9 tomorrow - until then, I’ll catch you at the movies ✌🏾
