I am happy to announce that I have completed and ordered the next holiday card. “Dashing Through the Snow” is the theme for this year’s card. Jen Kaufmann, who is a MartyFineArt fan, suggested the idea of foxes last year. I wanted to avoid a side view scene of foxes running. So I opted for a head-on view of two foxes running toward the viewer. The painting of the card was done in watercolor. I have a tendency to layer my paint rather thick, so the images pop out in vibrant color. At one point, both foxes were “smiling.” I thought that too quaint and so I made one grin while I toned down the other fox’s open mouth so it wouldn’t look like it was coming to attack the viewer.
Thanks to my advisor at MartyFineArt, Polly Chase, who always has such great artistic feedback and insights. She weighed in as the card was being designed and painted, as did my wife Annie. They both make a good feedback team! Polly also suggested that this year be a contest of sorts, with a tote bag (with the fox image on it) for the winner who buys the most cards. As I am trying hard to keep The Mr. Marty Show, Strung Out and Marty Fine Art going, it is a great idea. And the price has remained the same as it has been for the last previous three holiday cards. Know that you are keeping my artistic endeavors going with your purchase.
You can get your orders in now. And the earlier an order is placed the better as I have initially 250 cards ready to ship. These days a lot of folks don’t send cards, but hopefully “Dashing” will inspire you to make an exception and spread a little holiday cheer through the mail this year.
