Life is a lot like running. We have a start and finish line and in between we create goals and invariably encounter or create challenges along the way. At the start of this week I set a challenge for myself: to complete TWO 5K runs every day for five days. It's Wednesday, and I've just finished my fifth run!
Despite the atrocious weather in my region these past few days, I've persevered, got out and got those runs completed!
I could've let the bad weather deter me, both mentally and physically. However, I chose to take a proactive step towards my challenge instead of letting it become a stumbling block.
What's holding you back from achieving your goals? Is there an obstacle so daunting that you're tempted to walk away rather than confront it head-on?
Let me present a few ways that might help you overcome that stumbling block …
Reframe the Situation: Instead of viewing challenges as problems, see them as opportunities to grow and learn.
Break It Down: A huge obstacle can often be broken down into smaller, more manageable tasks. Tackle each one step by step.
Seek Support: Don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice. Sometimes, an outsider’s perspective can offer valuable insights.
Remember Past Successes: Remind yourself of challenges you’ve overcome in the past. This can boost your confidence and motivation.
Visualise Success: Spend a few minutes each day visualising your success. This can reinforce positive outcomes and motivate you to push forward.
Pray or Meditate: As a Christian, I’ve found that turning to prayer can be a powerful way to find strength and guidance during trying times. How might you apply something like this in your life?
Setbacks Aren’t Failures: Everyone faces setbacks. They’re just learning opportunities in disguise. Dust yourself off and keep moving!
Educate Yourself: Sometimes, the fear of the unknown can make obstacles seem insurmountable. By gaining knowledge, you can approach problems with more confidence.
Keep going and remember that every step, whether literal or figurative, is a step forward! Everyone faces setbacks. They’re just learning opportunities in disguise. Dust yourself off and keep moving!
