On the peninsula of Vižula in Medulin, in today's Croatia, since 3rd and 4th centiries AD there was monumental luxorious villa Flavius Julius Crispus, son of Empeor Constantin the Great. The villa was built and reconstructed since the 1st to 6th centuries during the Roman emperors Augustus (63 BC-14 AD), Hadrian (76-138), Constantine the Great (280-337), and the Byzantine Emperor Justinian (527-565). Significant parts of the villa are immersed in the sea today due to effects of nature – wind and sea, i. e. soil erosion and sea level rise.
