The prettiest surprise this month

The prettiest surprise this month

Nov 28, 2021

This week has been a rollercoaster in every given way (except for the real nice one, of course). So, when the bell rang last Friday, I wasn’t expecting it to be something good.

I was wrong. Trust me, I don’t think I have gotten anything nicer this week than a surprise package from Booktasters. Of course I knew it was on the way, but it’s different to know it and to have it between your fingers.

And yes, this might be “just a book”, which for someone else might have little to no value, but there’s more behind the covers that the eye may meet.

Steven King once said that “Books are a uniquely portable magic.” It’s all but too true. When we read, we engage in new worlds, new characters, new wonders. We open our minds to an entirely different perspective that could turn our life upside down (in some drastic cases).

That’s true for all kinds of books, be it fiction or non-fiction books. For those published traditionally, for indie books, for self published books. Ebooks, audiobooks, paperbacks. All books bring a different piece of the story we didn’t know was missing, enriching us (and indirectly those around us) with every single word of their pages.

What Booktasters does is not an easy feat. They don’t just bring together readers and authors: they are helping little voices to be better heard. In a world that is so full of virtual reality, social media and the like, coming back to something as a book to find out it’s not old fashioned, but trustworthy, it’s priceless.

At any given way, this “surprise-not-so-surprising” delivery brightened up my weekend and sends me into a new week with renewed spirits. I’m way thankful for it.
