As you plan your learning segment, it's important that you plan for your video evidence.

Most people score lower on Task 2 than any on any other rubric. This is almost always true. This is mostly because people are not PLANNING for the video while they are planning their lessons. In order to capture the video that you need, YOU MUST PLAN. If you are Early Childhood, I've written a special Task 2 blog just for you!

The problem is that there are tons of little behaviors that they want to see and they only give you a tiny little bit of time to show it in. You aren't allowed to splice together clips so it becomes challenging to find all of the behaviors that you need during uninterrupted video.

To get good video evidence, your lessons should contain these general items. (For more details, please read Making Good Choices, pages 23-25):

Respectful interactions: teacher-student and student-student (rubric 6)
Positive, Low risk learning environment (rubric 6)
Higher order questions; building on student responses (rubrics 6 & 8)
Engaging and challenging tasks (rubrics 6, 7, 8)
Connections to prior learning; connections to personal, cultural, community assets (rubric 7)
Interactions between students (rubrics 6 and 8)
Subject Specific Pedagogy (you MUST look at your own Rubric 9 – everyone has a different Subject Specific Pedagogy).

NOTE: Rubric 10 does NOT rely on video evidence. You could make a five on that rubric just by making sure that you completely address the prompt.
