Welcome! I started this page as a way to begin offering editorial services to other writers in a low-cost, donation-based capacity.

🌱 How might this benefit you? I know not every writer can afford to hire a writing coach or professional editor and I want to bridge the gap in a way that feels accessible and personal. I hope to offer this space to other writers because this is something I’ve been looking for myself - a way to receive thorough edits from someone I trust that doesn’t require a huge time or financial commitment. So, if you’re submitting work, putting together a collection, trying to get unstuck, wanting to share your well-crafted writing with others, or looking for thoughtful feedback, you're in the right place.
☕️ Why buymeacoffee? I wanted a way to offer my skills to others, gain more experience, and give people a chance to support me as I pursue this work. This seemed like a perfect way to start!
📝 Why trust me with your work? Above anything, I hope to champion your writing, your ideas, your creative process, and your identity as a creator. As an editor, I am always looking to highlight the strengths of your work first, so you can feel confident building on what is already successful in your writing. I am adamant about protecting and strengthening your unique voice, while ensuring your work shines. My feedback is warm, constructive, and incisive. I often use questions to open up dialogue and help you imagine multiple ways to approach sticky areas. My feedback is always a suggestion, not a prescription.
〰️ Professionally, I hold a B.A. in English and Creative Writing and an M.E.d. in TESOL, Literacy, and Culture, which means I’m well-versed in all things grammar, punctuation, style guide adherence, and consistency.
〰️ I've interned at Writers House, one of the top literary agencies in the world, where I assisted top agents in reading and evaluating manuscripts.
〰️ I’ve served as a prose editor for a literary journal, where I read hundreds of submissions and helped writers polish their work for publication.
〰️ I’ve also worked as an editorial assistant in an academic publishing context and as a writing coach for over five years in higher education settings. I have a teacher’s heart and love working with writers one on one to refine their work and carry it to completion.
💸 What does it cost?
I am flexible with any donation that feels reasonable and accessible for you. Here are some suggested donation amounts that reflect the time and care I put into each project, while aiming to be as accessible as possible:
🌞 Prose
〰️ 1 micro essay (100-500 words): $20
〰️ creative nonfiction/fiction (500-5,000 words): $0.04 per word
🌀 Poetry
〰️ 1 poem: $15
〰️ 3-6 poems: $45
〰️ chapbook (15-30 poems): $75
〰️ book length (35-60 poems): $160
This includes two rounds of edits. For projects larger than 60 poems or 5,000 words, please contact me first! I also love working with folks on artist statements, personal statements, personal branding copy, and all forms of academic writing, so if that is something you’re interested in, please reach out.
⏰ When can you expect your returned edits?
〰️ 1 poem: 1-3 days
〰️ 3-6 poems: 1-3 days
〰️ chapbook (15-30 poems): 3-5 days
〰️ book length (35-60 poems): 5-7 days
〰️ creative nonfiction under 2,000 words: 3-5 days
〰️ creative nonfiction from 2,000 to 5,000 words: 5-7 days
📖 What can you expect to receive?
Depending on the edits you request, here’s what to expect:
〰️ Developmental edits. Think of this as broad strokes - a big picture look at what’s working and what’s not.
〰️ Line edits. Think of this as the nitty gritty details focused on line or sentence level refinement, including things like word choice, line breaks, sentence structure, clarity, tone, pacing, etc.
〰️ Copy edits. Think of this as a jeweler polishing a gem to perfection, meticulously examining your writing to find anything that might detract from its brilliance, i.e. grammar, mechanics, consistency, typos, or other errors.
🖋️ What else can you expect to receive? You can expect in-margin edits alongside one to two paragraphs outlining the merits of your work in addition to areas for improvement or further consideration via Google Docs.
After you receive my edits, you are welcome to email me with any questions you might have or schedule a 30 minute call to talk through my notes if you'd prefer. If you would like one more round of edits after implementing any feedback, please email me your work directly within one month of receiving your initial edits.
