In 2017, I helped a colleague/client take her business from zero profitability to right at six figures in less than 90 days.
But the real lesson wasn’t the six figures.
It was the delay.
I’ll never forget the day she called me, frustrated and ready to give up. She had attempted several launches and couldn’t get traction. I had another client call scheduled, but afterward, I agreed to sit with her business and truly listen to its evolution.
And that’s when I saw it.
There was a service inside her model that wasn’t meant to be an add-on. It was meant to be a stage of its own. It was positioned as a bonus feature for speakers inside her larger platform. But in reality? It was the premium core. I told her to extract it. Name it. Build it separately. Launch it as its own authority.
We mapped the structure.
We named the platform.
We outlined the revenue model.
And then… she stalled.
For about a month, she tried to force her original plan to work instead of executing the new one we had just mapped out.
When she finally acted?
Zero to right at six figures in under 90 days.
But here’s the part most people miss. Had she moved immediately, the trajectory we built could have positioned her toward seven figures much faster.
The delay cost velocity.
She recovered, scaled, hired, collaborated, and expanded but she felt the weight of that wait.
The Real Skill Behind the Shift
One of my strengths in business is the ability to listen to the voice of someone’s business.
Not their fear.
Not their pride.
Not their attachment to old plans.
Their business.
Every business has hidden high-end profitability. Empires within empires. Premium pivots hiding in plain sight.
Most people can’t hear it clearly on their own.
But you can develop that relationship.
You can learn to:
Identify the service that wants to stand alone.
Spot the offer that should be premium.
Extract the hidden monetization layer.
Pivot without rebuilding from scratch.
