About MacAnorak
I’m Alexander Cohen, founder and writer of MacAnorak, an independent place for long-form, heavily sourced writing about Apple and the wider tech world.
I’m a trained psychologist, so I'm naturally interested in things that don’t quite make sense. Sometimes the answer is obvious; sometimes it takes rather more digging. I write MacAnorak because I enjoy following those questions wherever they lead.
Some of my pieces are Field Notes: longer essays and investigations. Others are Sightings: shorter takes on something strange, interesting or consequential that I’ve noticed.
I try to approach Apple with both affection and a healthy willingness to complain. I care about the products, the people who make them and the ideas behind them, which is precisely why I don’t think they should get a free pass.
For more about why I started the site, and the history behind the MacAnorak name, see my Field Note: Macintoshes and Anoraks.
Become a Fellow Anorak and I'll make sure new Field Notes and Sightings (shorter takes on something I've noticed) are delivered straight to your inbox as soon as they're posted.
And if you'd like to help me keep the anorak zipped up, you can buy me a coffee (or a tea — I’m British). It will almost certainly be converted into more Apple-related research, writing and entirely unnecessary overthinking.
Let’s be anoraks together.
—Alexander Cohen
