Sometimes you come across information that can be both useful, and timely, either for yourself and or for other people.  I enclose the link for the organisation called Zero Suicide Alliance.  I completed their forty-minute free online training course about suicide awareness last night.  They have other free courses and a great deal of information about this subject.

Six thousand people die by suicide in the UK every year, seven hundred thousand people globally.

The Zero Suicide Alliance (ZSA) is a UK based suicide awareness and prevention initiative hosted by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and funded via Mersey Cares NHS Charity.

“We believe suicide is a preventable death and that one life lost to suicide, is one too many”.

"The word ‘zero’ is controversial. This is deliberate. If zero is not the right number, what is? The vast majority of suicides are avoidable and we should adopt this as a basic principle. Zero is not a target, but it must be an aspiration." Steve Mallen, ZSA Co-Founder

Our hope is for everyone to see the role they play in supporting suicide awareness and prevention.

What age, dear reader, do you want to live to?  Do you ever think about a number?  Do you believe this is out of your hands?  I don’t.  I am aiming for 92 years old, and I think about this figure often.  It stops me doing certain things sometimes.  It makes me do certain things sometimes.  If we have a realistic number to aim for it can easily become a guide to what we do with our lives.  It can stop us having accidents.  It can stop us from getting ill.  It can guide us to eating better, to getting healthier.

It might sound simple.  It might sound silly, but when we have a goal to aim for like this we can often find ways to get there.  And sometimes ways are found for us.
