Crikey! (Part Two).

Crikey! (Part Two).

Sep 30, 2024

Well I didn't expect to end up where I am right now, Dover ferry port, two thirty in the morning.

Yesterday's Plymouth/Santander crossing, which I was aiming to catch, was cancelled as I drove into the terminal! We were offered a rescheduled ferry from Portsmouth, the chance to ammend the original crossing, or a refund.

I took the refund immediately, and within minutes decided to drive to Dover and then take a crossing to Calais in Northern France. Whether with the intention of driving all the way through France and Spain to catch the Tenerife ferry from Cadiz I am not sure? It's a long way. I've done it before, but do it again?

My godson is walking from London to Turkey, raising funds to help rebuild areas of Samandag which were brutally destroyed in the 2023 earthquakes there. After seventy-five days he has nearly reached Stuttgart in Germany. I am doing his updates for his gofundme page. Maybe I can interview him and post it on my site here. I've messaged him. I'll see what he says.

I'm thinking to dedicate this site to helping amplify people's voices who want and feel the need to be heard. In doing so I can still make for El Hierro in the Canary Islands, my original destination, although maybe I don't need to go quite that far? Maybe I don't have to go nearly as far as that to do this. But I will tentatively hold magical El Hierro in my mind.

I am putting myself in the lap of the Gods. They know much more than I do.

I am tired. My eyes are sore and I hope I have not missed too many mistakes in this post.

Two and a half hours until the ferry leaves for Calais, France. I've already been googling campsites over there. I will catch up with you readers soon. Bye for now.

Enjoy this post?
