Welcome to my newest journey!
As a writer, the question I hear most often is, “How did you get started?” But once new acquaintances learn that I write primarily in LGBTQ+ genres, the next question is almost always, “Why are you writing in that market?”
Most of the time, it’s an innocent question—asked by people who are genuinely curious or confused. Sometimes, though, there’s an undercurrent of something less kind. A suggestion that writing LGBTQ+ stories makes me less of a writer, less of an author… less of a person.
No matter the intent behind the question, my answer is always the same: Not enough other people were doing it.
My goal is to write for under-served markets until they aren’t under-served anymore.
Until LGBTQ+ characters exist so naturally in every genre that their presence isn’t treated as a surprise.
Until I can publish an Omega Auction story under Paranormal, not Gay Paranormal.
Until I can publish a story about two men under Romance without it being quietly reclassified as Gay Romance.
Until love isn’t gay or bi or straight.
Until love is just love.
If you’d like to be part of that journey—to read along, support the work, or simply watch it unfold—I’m really glad you’re here.
Love, Kian
