Advancing faster than Science Fiction

Advancing faster than Science Fiction

Dec 15, 2022

I'm offering this post to my members and supporters first (thank you)

The implications are staggering!

Dr Charles Morgan came to Westpoint Academy in June 2018 to talk to the cadets on the Psycho-Neurobiology of War. "Former" CIA he held the position of Professor of National Security Studies at New Haven. He was updating a talk from 2010 on "What's in the future for the National Security Community?"

If this came from any other source, in any other forum, the information would be quickly dismissed as "conspiracy theory" and too much like science fiction to be believed:

He extrapolated from the work that was already being done to that point and how it could be extrapolated from the stated goals of the projects already in play. Here is what he shared:

Mind body interfaces. Neural interfaces that allowed first monkeys, then humans, being able to use their minds (via micro electrodes implanted on the brain) to control robotic arms. It worked.

Direct brain to brain stimulation allowed one person to control the hand movements of a second persons hand over the internet. Taking over the physical body of another person over the internet.

The next step was to show one animal could learn from another animal using brain signals sent to the sensor cortex of the second. The military has placed deep brain electrode implants showing the brain to brain transfer of sensory information between humans. Talk about walking in someone else's shoes!

He talked about the bio hacking community. How they were implanting motherboards in themselves to achieve certain hack worthy skills (e.g. reading RFID chips) or by using Chlorin e6 (Ce6) eyedrops which conferred "night vision" and allowed humans to see over 160 feet in the dark! for several hours.

Researchers were able to give rats "extra sensory" abilities, for instance, allowing rats to see infra red via a neuroprosthetic devices. Or, allowing a human to control a rat, or a cockroach as a kind of drone.

He predicted that the non invasive caps (which avoid the need for surgery) would become better and better over the next 5 years.

Dr Ventner's work in producing "life in a cell" in 2010 combined with CRISPR was like the discovery of atomic weapons.

It allowed the cells to produce anything that was wanted: "They could produce perfume ,they could produce petroleum" or any peptide. It allowed designer medicine. It allowed personalised poisons that could target a single individual.

A hypo-spray like on Star Trek could blast plasmids into the skin.

Designer Receptors Exclusive Activated by Designer Drugs (DREADDs). which can be remotely controlled when the brain is triggered by the right signal (such as a light signal).

It has to be put in the body, brain first. Dr Morgan explains:

Cells can be designed for specific activities and targets.

Cells can be strategically placed.

Cells can be remotely controlled.

"It opens up both alarming and exciting opportunities, such as the timed release of information on demand."

DNA Steganography allows the storage of staggering amounts of information with DNA. One gram of DNA storing 700 terabytes ( 7 billion i pads ) at room temperature.

Why go digital when you can go DNA? and the new frontier is combining quantum computing with a "wet" DNA drive.

Can we erase memory? Can we modify memory? Can we change memory?

The short answer is yes?

Hypermnesia, creating a photographic memory is being studied. This is progressing slower than work to erase or modify memory.

Using light, it is possible to transfer memories.

Researchers are able to create false memories. With greater stress, they were successful with nearly all subjects studied.

It could be used to treat patients, e.g. to help them stop smoking, but what is the ethics of using a subliminal technique (which, by bypassing conscious awareness) does not allow informed consent.

If you can change the past, you change human behaviour.

So to change human motivation, we don't need to persuade people, you can just change their memory.

Think of the defensive and offensive capabilities of that?

In the current age of social media, the ability to introduce false memories is enhanced. It's a Trojan horse, you don't know it has happened to you, and if you're smart and have a big memory you'll believe it happens to other people and NOT you. It bypasses some critical reasoning on our part and it's particularly effective.

Chemical implanting of memories has happened in monkeys already by 2018.

While people were sleeping, French researchers were able to train people and sample their knowledge in what they had trained them in while they were asleep, and while they were later awake and they didn't know they had learnt the information.

So while they were sleeping, researchers could find out what people knew around word recognition lists without ever waking the person up. They were also able to train new memory and information outside the person's awareness while they were asleep.

Dr Morgan mused that the work on the, by then, approved 500 deep brain implants would enable the ability of creating a kind of hive mind which has already been achieved in rats, and allows more rapid problem solving.
