Hello from an absolutely baking Cambridge!
I hope you are managing to stay cool if you are in the UK heatwave!
A small update from Living Songs in that I am wanting to expand The Living Songs Series, my resource of art songs composed since 2000. I have recently put a call out for song scores on Instagram and have also contacted eight UK music publishers. The first tranche have just gone up; do take a look. It includes some interesting young composers at the start of their careers, one or two who I think will stay the course.
I am also engaging more with the new generation of singers and have over 1000 followers on Instagram who are either singers or composers mainly. I am trying to post new song performances each week when I am told about them. Do spread the word that promoters, singers and composers are all free to contact me so that I can share their new song events.
Yesterday brought a message from the Australian Art Song Foundation, a similar project that encompasses old and new songs by Australian composers specifically. It is wonderful to know that these projects exist around the world and that people still value art song so much.
I also had an online meeting with other singing teachers as part of an Association of Singing Teachers network event. Here I could tell them all about the project and they were super interested. Fingers crossed they diversify their teaching repertoire to include new music!
As ever, do like and share my posts on the socials and let's catch up soon!
Many thanks for your support,
Jessica
