Let’s Grow Flax ‘26 will be a continuation of the Let’s Grow Flax idea of communally growing flax (LGF = Let’s Grow Flax).
LGF’26 will be led by Brigitte from BeeKayMakes, with the support of community members of the the initial Let’s Grow Flax ’23 / '24 / '25 group.
During the flax growing and harvesting cycle (April – September), we will be giving guidance on all stages of sowing, growing, tending, harvesting, retting, and drying the crop.
In 2024, part of the crop was collected for communal processing and creating your locally produced jeans. The jeans were exhibited at the 'Fashion on Earth event' in November 2024, in Bristol. (More Info)
For the 2026 crop cycle you'll have the option to keep you flax for learning textile skills, and / or donate it (or a portion) to the project. This donated communally grown flax will be sent to the Fantasy Fibre Mill to produce locally produced linen yarn. The resulting yarn can be purchased at a discount.
In 2026 Let's Grow Flax fans can join Zoom sessions as follows.
Online Sessions (75 minutes):
Saturday - April 4th, 10am - 12am: Sow your Flax Seeds (£20 PAYG available)
Saturday - May 23th, 10am - 12am: Tending, weeding, supporting and feeding you flax patch (£15 PAYG available)
Saturday - June 27th, 10am - 12am: Harvesting, Rippling & Retting. (£20 PAYG available)
Saturday - September 5th - 10am - 12am: Flax processing tools, and hands-on flax processing (£20 PAYG available)
While our teaching sessions happen online via Zoom, we are also planning in-person workshops.
Hopefully, by Christmas 2026 you could have your own home-grown flax, some hand-spun linen yarn and a small piece of your own hand-woven fabric in your hands.
