Poetry: You Still Belong

Poetry: You Still Belong

Apr 10, 2023

She held him tight, a love so strong

Seeing him as guest felt wrong

A sad guest playing along

He leans in to whisper “stop it”

Steps back in sweet retreat

She let’s go assuring that he still belongs

This image was posted as this week’s poetry prompt by Afrobloggers. Check out #AbWPE on Twitter.

Looking at the image, my weird mind noticed how close they were to each others ears. What was she saying? What was he saying to her? Was he whispering?

I went with a story of a lady who still loved her childhood sweetheart but still went ahead to marry another guy for some reason. I hope you enjoyed it.
