Everyday adventures

Everyday adventures

Mar 25, 2024

Being still is something that's really hard for me. It's not because I'm bored, I just feel there are things to see and do, which makes me feel like I'm wasting time just sitting. (It's something that's linked in with addiction, check out workaholism)

There are obviously downsides to this (like I burn myself out and get very overwhelmed) but the upsides are worth it. I get involved in so much and try so many random things.

This weekend I adventured in Exeter. I spent the morning pottering in the city, enjoying turkish coffee at a newly found health food shop come cafe, watching the world go by.

In the late afternoon my friend came up from Bude for dinner and "Late night at the Library". We went to a cafe I'd heard rave reviews about... Massive disappointment 😅 . We wandered down to TK Maxx, the shop of dreams, had to scoff some mini eggs due to a sugar crash then back into town to find tiramisu as I am currently obsessed.

Walking back into town we went through the pedestrian tunnels, which I love and always photograph.

Now, late night at the library. This was a crafty night for adults only, with a bar and live music. All I knew was you could paint a sweary pebble and there was something to do with charcoal.

We got there a little late (due to my tiramisú need) so most activities were full, apart from relaxing colouring. So we sat and we coloured next to people playing Mario Kart. This was basically a night for adults to indulge their inner child. The first twenty minutes I wanted to leave because wtf why would I want to be here colouring and doing crafts I'm rubbish at? But we didn't. We got up from colouring and went to look at charcoal, grabbed our images to copy and got stuck in. My gosh, did it make me laugh. I had so much fun being rubbish and just messing around. For somebody who is a self proclaimed Peter Pan, I find it really hard to do playful things that have no "value". I am so glad my friend came as I wouldn't have stayed. I got the chance to do my sweary pebble, which brought my such joy.

C*ckwomble. My swear word of choice, because it makes my mum laugh.

Walking back home it felt like I'd been away, on a mini trip, in just that day of experiencing the city around me.

I don't want to forget this day. It was so lovely to just be and enjoy what's right here.
