So I recently bought an older film camera. I always wanted to try out an older film camera, or have one in my arsenal to use here and there to bring back some vintage looks. While on my search for a film camera, I came across the Minolta X-700 that came with a few other goodies. The Minolta came with not only the main camera, but its 50mm lens, a 28-70mm lens, and a 70-210mm lens all for a pretty low price. I thought, "this is it, this fits right into my budget," so I bought it.
The camera showed up about a week later, needed some cleaning and testing to make sure it worked properly, but after all that I fell in love with it. The one thing that I wasn't expecting was relearning manual focus all over again. It's weird to say (for me and maybe others), but a film camera has its own unique feel for manual focus as you don't have a screen to look back at and make sure your shot was actually in focus or even focused on what you were looking at. You don't get to know until after the film has been developed.
But I must say that, I truly have been enjoying shooting film and going back to the roots of analog photography. Although this will not be my main style of shooting, it is absolutely fantastic being able to bring it out and have some old vintage style photos to be able to share with family later on or be able to use it for client work once in a while.
These are just a few of the images that I have been able to capture. Some more will be coming back soon, just waiting for them to be developed. I actually just reworked my website a bit to make it feel more professional, felt too basic before and too much like a simple gallery. Will be updating the images over there soon too!
