Play it like Patrick! I've seen a lot of acoustic covers on YouTube of Demon Hunter's song, I Will Fail You. It's a fan favorite for sure...and for good reason! A few of these covers are very good quality...great playing and great singing. However, as I've watched these covers, I have been a little letdown. The reason for this mild disappointment? None of the covers are played the way Patrick Judge plays the song on the original acoustic version. The official release of the acoustic version of I Will Fail You was on March 18, 2014, on a 7" vinyl record as part of the Extremist Deluxe Edition. I've found this version on only one YouTube channel. I'll link it below so you can listen to it.
After hearing this original version, I determined to Play it like Patrick! And I did! I've learned the original acoustic version of I Will Fail You and I want to share it with you guys. I'm in the middle of creating tabs for this version and, when I'm done, I'll do a tutorial on how to play Patrick's version. I love how Patrick adds a lot of arpeggios to his acoustic versions...much like his acoustic version of Dead Flowers...which I did learn and covered (shameless plug:) Adding arpeggios to acoustic versions enhances the song's dynamics and gives the listeners so many more textures to keep them engaged.
