This year I am also teaching a new Arabic Taster, from 6–9 January 2027, designed for complete beginners. We will focus on learning to read the Arabic script and building a core vocabulary, making extensive use of words already familiar to many English speakers. This will be accompanied by brief introductions to the different varieties of Arabic and to the rich body of literature written in Arabic not only by Muslims but also by Christians, Jews and others. If you know anyone who has been thinking about learning Arabic but has never quite taken the plunge, this might be a good opportunity for them.
