I will be making up for some lost time this week. Hopefully, in a couple of days I'll be posting Chapter 6 - Majoris. It’s one of my favorite chapters and where the heart of the story gets exposed.
Below you’ll find an out of context teaser passage from the chapter. When I post the whole chapter I will also provide a snippet from the beginning as I have been doing.
Be sure to support my efforts with as many Double Espressos as you like. I drink a lot of coffee and it will help pay my internet bill this month so I can keep posting my work, as being unemployed does create roadblocks to such things. Enjoy this passage and look for the main posting in a couple of days.
Thank you for your support!
Passage from chapter 6 - Majoris
When the Liner Nux came out of Blink, Majoris was very visible. It was no longer surrounded. It dominated. There was no where to look out the windows where red was not visible. The ships were harder to see. But the Skipping was not. It was outstanding. Moss greens and sky blues, stunning flashes of color combinations. Lines drawn across the face of a giant Sun that glimmered for a minute, then neatly faded away making room for more. Hours could have passed and Aster would not have cared. The constant shimmer and changing pattern of the star's red surface only accentuated the effects, as if staring into a campfire alone in a forest, her only friend at night, talking in crackles, and light. Warming her with its blanket. Only this was no campfire. The warmth was increasing.
"Are we too close?” Aster had a worried look.
"Oh no. If it's the temperature rise worrying you, the Nux will soon compensate. It does take some time. We are dealing with a Sun, of course.” Raal reassured.
They stared for a bit in silence. Raal spoke. "It's beautiful. No matter how many times I go to the Festivals I never tire of it. Stars are what we all are. Just marvelous.”
