I recently shared an Instagram story answering “this or that” questions. One of them being if I am a morning person or a night owl? For me, it’s both. It’s always both. I try and decide by narrowing it down to which I enjoy more. I love the crispiness in the air of the morning. I love seeing the dogs excited to be awake. When we first step outside and take 10 deep breaths, I feel so empowered as if we’re the first to breathe in this new air of the day. It’s also very peaceful, and we can hear the few wildlife that are starting to stir for the day. I love to watch what my dogs are excited about. You would think they are running out to go to the bathroom first thing but they’re in and out of the house all the time so there’s rarely a rush for that. I watch Dexter, do a lap around the house, marking his territory on any new scent (which is sometimes the perennials I planted). I watch Gypsy with her nose to the ground sniffing every little chipmunk trail or lifting her head to listen better to whatever is waking in the woods. Sometimes I walk around the yard exploring with them and sometimes I stretch on the deck. Dexter is usually the first to want to go in because he likes is routine and is ready for his medicine and dental treat. Gypsy is the opposite as she comes in when she feels like it. They both represent where I feel stuck sometimes: do I repeat the beat or do I follow my feelings?
Lately, I’ve been checking my body battery on my Garmin Forerunner 945 to see how well I slept and if my body is ready for intense exercise. Sometimes I like what it tells me and other times I’m confused. Dogs are primal pets and I’m intrigued by how one makes choices by doing whatever she feels like and the other makes choices as if they were a to-do list. I fall somewhere in between. Sometimes I’m looking for the right answer but is there a right answer? Who decides it’s the right answer? They decide. 😉
What about you? Are you a morning person or a night owl? What gets you out of bed in the morning? A feeling or a flow?
Glad you’re here. Living the dream, ~Kreisa
