It's been a challenge for me to be effective working with executives because . . . well . . . I believe they're responsible for a lot of the crap that happens in organizations. But last year I got some coaching about this, and learned:
Executives have a difficult job.
I shouldn't assume that they know the things I have learned about leadership, teams and organizations simply because these things are simple, have been known for decades, and are proven to work way better than typical approaches to "management".
I will be more effective if I am more empathetic to them.
OK, I mostly am practicing this, but I fell off the wagon and recorded this rant. SORRY!
