Early Access Delay

Early Access Delay

Nov 06, 2022

Hey everyone! Unfortunately, I have some disappointing news...

I was aiming for an Early Access release at the end of this year, but it's clear to me now that that's not feasible. I focused all of my time on thesis work, and wasn't able to get any game dev done during the whole month of October, so now I'm way behind schedule.

I'm handing in my first draft tomorrow, and the revision process should be a lot less time-consuming. That's why I'm optimistic I can start working on AS again this month.

My new goal is to have the early access version ready for supporters by February 2023, and for everyone else 2-4 weeks after that (giving me enough time to implement bug fixes and initial feedback).

I'm really sorry about the delay and for getting your hopes up. Still, I hope you look forward to Artificial Selection's first step towards being a complete game!

What? Aritificial Selection's early access got delayed by a whole SEASON!? That's it, I'm done following this project! You've ruined everything! How could you, Kigyo!? How could you consciously whisper such sweet lies to us all and proceed to stab us in the back at our highest moment of hope!? Do you even have so much as a modicum of remorse for the great transgression you have just made against all of your following!? Have you any empathy in heart, vile demon!? To shame, Kigyo! To SHAME!!.........Is what I would say if the last time I felt another human's touch was when I crawled out the womb. Of course we're still looking forward to it all, Kigyo! Take as long as you need. You're a programmer, so I think it's a natural given that you're piling up 50 different things into your schedule at once; and all things considered? I think you should just do away with the release date altogether so that you don't feel rushed to get it done, said rushing leading to a worse off product than what it would've been had you simply taken it at your own pace. Just throw up a post whenever you happen to finish it up, but make sure that you feel it's right before doing so!

Thanks for your understanding and for looking out for me! I do think having a deadline is valuable since it keeps me from procrastinating, but don't worry - I definitely wouldn't publish the game if it's not in a state I'm happy with.
