Right, so the allegedly Swiss based, US backed Non Governmental Organisation, which is with every passing day looking more and more like an Israeli front to continue denying aid into Gaza has been launched today by Benjamin Netanyahu and the immediate thought when it comes to this organisation, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, or GHF, is that if Netanyahu is touting them after denying aid to Gaza for getting on for 3 months straight, why should any of us think this organisation is going to deliver aid, going to do what is necessary to help the people of Gaza? And if your suspicions have been raised, you’d be right to be concerned, because launch day has turned into a total farce amidst the CEO literally resigning, citing the impossibility of delivering said aid without committing crimes against humanity, another Swiss based NGO demanding GHF be investigated over concerns of non compliance with not only Swiss law but international humanitarian law, the UN’s ongoing concerns being no less valid now as they have been for the last several weeks over this organisation and even a US logistics company originally contracted to deliver said aid calling the NGO that usurped them nothing but a front for further Israeli atrocity. Even the people of Gaza themselves are not taken in by this stunt, as starved as they are, because the price for food under this scheme is going to be their freedom. Netanyahu wants Gaza, wants the people out and he’s dangling food before the starving to get them exactly where he wants them. It is impossible frankly to think otherwise given the weight of evidence covering the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation that is mounting up.
Right, so its been quite a day for the so-called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, or GHF, hardly the launch they’d have wanted I’m sure as instead of being met with cheers and applause to get aid into Gaza, it has been further revealed to be a profoundly disturbing scheme that not only appears to be ethically bankrupt but also potentially criminal. The GHF has been marketed heavily as a US-backed initiative to deliver critical aid to a besieged Gaza Strip, yet in the last few days it has been revealed, thanks to the Israeli ambassador to the US Yechiel Leiter saying the quiet part out loud as Israel are wont to do as having deep Israeli involvement, triggering much outrage and suspicion from international observers, humanitarian organizations, the UN and things have gone from bad to worse for it, because as the crisis in Gaza intensifies, with Israel very much using starvation as a tool of war—this apparently sham initiative represents the latest development in Israel's manipulation of humanitarian mechanisms to further its own political and military goals.
The day got off to a great start as their CEO Jake Wood, resigned on the very day the organisation was due to be launched by Benjamin Netanyahu, the fact Netanyahu was launching this as he’s blocked aid for so long should be one of the biggest red flags there could possibly be, but the literal CEO quitting is easily as big and to make it even more so, were Wood’s reasons for doing so. His resignation was not a quiet exit as Drop Site News made clear when they dropped the following tweet on the matter:
‘Jake Wood has resigned as Executive Director of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the Israeli plan for aid distribution in Gaza that bypasses established NGO and UN channels. Wood cites an inability to implement an independent aid delivery plan without violating core humanitarian principles as the reason for his departure. In a statement shared by CNN’s Jeremy Diamond, Wood said he was “horrified and heartbroken” by the hunger crisis in Gaza and had sought to build a neutral, secure mechanism to get food to civilians. But he concluded that GHF could not maintain “humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence” under current conditions. He urged Israel to “significantly expand the provision of aid into Gaza through all mechanisms” and urged all stakeholders to pursue “innovative new methods for the delivery of aid, without delay, diversion, or discrimination.”’
It seems hard to believe the CEO didn’t know more about who was involved and the plans for the NGO were following Israeli direction, so it makes you wonder who was really in charge, how out o fthe loop he may have been, or was it just a crisis of conscience come launch day?
The fundamental contradiction at the heart of the GHF cannot be overstated though, should be repeated again and again, because it really is absurd the NGO got as far as it did with Israeli involvement in it not flagged up well before now. How can an entity partially assembled and endorsed by the very state that has spent months systematically starving Gaza possibly be trusted to deliver humanitarian relief? Clearly it can’t, yet its been launched regardless and by Netanyahu at that, nothing could possibly condemn it more surely? Well we’re not done yet.
For nearly three months, Israel has implemented as part of its genocide of Gaza a campaign of starvation. According to Euro-Med Monitor, over 1000 entire families have now been wiped out, since the start of the Israeli genocide, 2,620 families have just one surviving member, and 4,126 families have no more than 2 surviving members. On top of that infrastructure continues to be obliterated, and a population of over two million Palestinians have been driven to the brink of famine.
Israel now control over 77 percent of the Gaza Strip, leaving virtually no room for independent aid operations to succeed. Any meaningful humanitarian intervention requires neutrality, access, and protection—three conditions Israel has consistently undermined. The very notion that an Israeli-linked organisation therefore could now serve as a conduit for the aid that is necessary, 500 trucks a day minimum, is a sick joke.
The GHF's creation has been a covert Israeli operation dressed in humanitarian garb, so much so that it has now also come out that Netanyahu selected this obscure allegedly American NGO to manage aid deliveries and did so behind the backs of the Israeli army and COGAT— the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories -who as part of its remit is supposedly responsible for overseeing aid deliveries to Gaza. What Netanyahu did here was not only a violation of protocols, yet more corruption frankly in my view, shows how necessary it is to Netanyahu to control the narrative—and in light of all this the logistics too—of aid and that can only be seen to be to prevent it getting where it is needed in complete contrast to what it is intended to do.
Ownership of the GHF also includes Israeli businesspeople handpicked by Netanyahu, again behind the back of the military and COGAT, further compromising the NGO's claims of neutrality and humanitarian intent, how can it possibly be for that, when the backers are themselves Israeli? Moreover, Netanyahu’s announcement of the GHF launch on the same day Wood resigned underscores the absurdity of the situation. A prime minister who has consistently blocked aid into Gaza suddenly promoting a new aid initiative, that he has been handpicking the business backers of ad going behind the back of the mechanisms supposedly in place should be screaming alarm and point of fact it has been raised, through the CEO quitting on launch day.
Further bad news for the Swiss based GHF has come from another Swiss-based NGO, the human rights outfit TRIAL International. They have now formally requested an investigation into the GHF by Swiss authorities. Switzerland, as a signatory to the Geneva Conventions, has a duty to ensure that any organization registered within its jurisdiction complies with international humanitarian law, something they don’t believe GHF are compliant with, nor with Swiss domestic law and have filed with the courts on both counts accordingly.
TRIAL International’s concerns are rooted in the potential use of GHF as a tool of population displacement and political manipulation, so they are pressing Swiss officials to evaluate whether the GHF violates both domestic and international legal norms, which if found against them, and you kind of think by this point surely that’s a given, would set a precedent, but you can’t ignore the exceptionalism we keep seeing being made for Israel yet having a part to play.
Quds News Network have covered the goings on on this story, an excerpt of their coverage reading:
‘TRIAL International, Switzerland-based NGO, said on Friday that it had filed two legal submissions demanding Swiss authorities to investigate the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), US-backed organization that plans to oversee a new model of aid distribution in the Gaza Strip and is now registered in Geneva.
The two submissions, on May 20 and 21, were filed to Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and requested an investigation into whether GHF complies with Swiss law and international humanitarian law.
TRIAL also asked FDFA to explain if GHF had submitted a declaration, in accordance with Swiss law, to use private security companies to distribute aid, and if it had been approved by Swiss authorities.
Haaretz revealed in new investigation that Netanyahu's Military Secretary Maj. Gen. Roman Gofman recruited an obscure and inexperienced private company to coordinate humanitarian distribution in the Gaza Strip. The company has Israeli ties and raises many questions despite presenting itself as American.’
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, the PFLP has also issued a scathing statement condemning the GHF as a "colonial scheme" designed to control and displace Palestinians. The PFLP points to the foundation’s distribution model, which requires Palestinians to gather at designated hubs—locations many compare to internment camps within what is already considered an open-air prison, as gaza itself has long been regarded.
These hubs are not neutral zones of relief but potential traps. With Israel in control of most of Gaza now and having a vested interest in depopulating the strip, but notably the north again as they had done previously in the immediate term, such a distribution model raises serious concerns about forced displacement masquerading as humanitarian outreach.
Notably, the United Nations has also not endorsed the GHF. In fact, UN agencies have voiced concerns about the foundation’s formation and operational viability, suggesting that the initiative lacks international legitimacy. The absence of UN support further isolates the GHF and underscores its dubious nature.
Also weighing in to put the boot in has been Moti Kahana, whose logistics firm GDC was initially selected by the US. to handle Gaza aid deliveries and has gone on record describing the GHF as an "Israeli deception.” Kahana’s insights are particularly damning because they come from someone who was once inside the aid apparatus. His firm was abruptly dropped in favour of the hastily formed GHF, which only came into existence in February of this year, you get the feeling its not a matter of sour grapes so much as legitimate cause for concern when so many other organisations have also condemned the GHF.
The fact that the US pivoted to supporting the GHF, despite Israeli involvement and lack of transparency, raises troubling questions about American complicity and the erosion of ethical standards in humanitarian work. If aid becomes another lever of geopolitical manipulation, another weapon for Israel to use, its fundamental purpose—to relieve suffering—is entirely lost.
The GHF debacle is not just a scandal; it is a test of the international community’s resolve to uphold humanitarian principles, something we have seen them consistently fail at where it comes to Gaza. Aid to Gaza must be unconditional, impartial, and coordinated through trusted global institutions like the UN, like UNRWA, not shadowy organisations backed by an occupying power.
Calls for an international investigation, not only in Switzerland but under the auspices of the International Criminal Court, are now urgently needed. TRIAL International’s demands should be echoed by civil society, legal experts, and states committed to the Geneva Conventions.
Furthermore, a UN peacekeeping and aid distribution intervention must now be put in place. Pondering this, considering this, its past time for that. Given that Israel now controls nearly 80 percent of the Strip, there is no logistical pathway for neutral aid to reach its intended recipients without international oversight and the protections needed to enforce it. The alternative is the perpetuation of a genocidal status quo, veiled behind an illusion of benevolence, but behind which people are either coerced and rounded up into smaller areas, penned in like cattle, or starve. That’s the choice GHF presents to the people of Gaza.
As it happens and as is so customary when you write about current affairs, they don’t stand still as you write. In light of the calls for the investigation into GHF, they’ve shut down operations before they even began, this is one scam Israel have not been able to pull off, yet the fact remains aid is still not getting into Gaza.
The GHF’s collapse before it could even begin operations is both a tragedy and a warning. It reveals the extent to which humanitarian aid can be weaponised, politicised, and corrupted and that Israel are very much prepared to do that. Jake Wood’s resignation, TRIAL International’s investigation demands, the PFLP’s condemnation, and widespread international scepticism all converge on one truth: the GHF is not a beacon of hope for Gaza, but a con and a trap.
As citizens of a global community condemning what we have witnessed for 19 months now, we must reject such duplicity. We must advocate for genuine humanitarian efforts—grounded in law, guided by ethics, and insulated from vile genocidal agendas, so please share this and spread the word about it, because its going chronically underreported.
Its not just the aid agency that Israel backs that must be questioned however, but what aid that is getting into Gaza getting looted too, as it turns out the gangs doing the looting are not Hamas or Hamas backed, but very much Israel backed as well – get all the details of that story in this video recommendation here as your suggested next watch.
