A Brand New Home

A Brand New Home

Saturday was the much anticipated grand opening of the new Rockport Center for the Arts.

After the building was destroyed in Hurricane Harvey 5 years ago, RCA has moved around, moved a building, rented several spaces, and raised a ton of money to build this brand new, state of the art facility. And it is right here, in downtown Rockport, Texas! The Grand Opening Ceremony, at the new Rockport Conference Center (the ROCC), the ribbon cutting for the RCA building, and the members only reception were the icing on the cake.

I am honored to be involved with RCA since I first landed in Rockport in 2015, as a "Winter Texan" and I currently serve on the Board of Directors. I regularly teach in-person classes there, and I'm so excited to have works in two of the inaugural shows. The $12.5 million dollar complex spreads across 1.2 acres in the heart of our little town's historic district. It is a sight to behold and Saturday night it was definitely the place to be!

If you visit the Coastal Bend, you need to make a point to see the new RCA.

CUBE-ISM IX is one of three encaustic collage pieces that I have in the Miniatures Show in the Mendez Family Gallery. A larger version (with 81 cubes!) is in the annual members show, The Big Wave upstairs in the HEB Gallery.

And, I am giddy to return to teaching in the brand new classrooms overlooking the water - I'll be presenting 2 new workshops in January for Arts Educator Days and teach one week in February for a new Collage Sampler Series.
