🎉 It's official - Back in February, I successfully completed the Enneagram Professional Training Program through The Narrative Enneagram and am now a Certified Narrative Enneagram Teacher! 🎉
I shared this on my LinkedIn a few weeks ago, but realized that I hadn't updated you all! Whoops!
To be fully transparent, I initially embarked on this journey as compensation for my own type's preoccupation with competency. I decided to pursue certification after being asked numerous times to teach the enneagram to groups, organizations, friends, and even military units but not feeling like I had the authority to do so without a "certification." So, a little over a year ago I jumped in and had no idea how transformational this work and study would be.
After much research (did I mention that I lead with Type 5?), I confidently decided to study with The Narrative Enneagram, founded by Helen Palmer and Dr. David Daniels. I was initially drawn in not only by their longstanding history, and reputation within the Enneagram community (they are the longest-running IEA Accredited School in the world and the only School with Distinction) but also by their teaching methodology. The narrative is central to everything.
- What do others have to teach us with their lived experiences?
- What color can we add to the outline of a type structure by hearing someone of that type expound on how certain facets manifest for them?
- How can we learn and grow together by being compassionately curious with a grounded presence?
This experience has been one that I am profoundly grateful for and continuously humbled by. I expected to learn some things about the system, and perhaps gain some practical experience. But what I've walked away with has been transformational.
I'm still working through what's next and how to bring this new set of skills to the communities that I love and care deeply about. One thing I've picked up along the way is the practice of noticing what's happening within during times of gratitude and when feeling well supported, and pausing there to soak it in. So, here, I pause. ❤️
So, what's next?
I'm slowly, but surely putting together a website and will coral all of the things over there. I'm taking on a few coaching clients here and there, so I've now opened up a few limited coaching slots here on BMAC. If you or someone you know know is interested, please share!
