Writers! I Found the Best Way to Organize Your Note-Taking!

May 10, 2023

Looking for a way to take your productivity to the next level? Download this new Chrome extension that can help you take notes, stay organized, and get more done in less time. Best of all, the Beta version is completely free!

Organized note-taking is essential to any project, creative or business.

When researching a topic or writing a story, whether you use pen and paper or a laptop, taking notes can help you stay organized and focused, ultimately leading to a more successful outcome.

Let’s be honest, note-taking is a valuable skill to have even if you’re not a writer.

  • Notes can help understand information on a topic.

  • Note-taking acts as an external memory aid.

  • Notes are the source material for your next creative or business project.

  • Notes at the end work as a repository of ideas.

  • Jotting down notes makes you more attentive.

  • It helps better prioritization in your project.

  • Taking notes helps better organize your research.

At the beginning of my writing career, I was used to the conventional method of pen and paper, including writing out my articles by hand. I kept at it until my hand would ache. Eventually, I transitioned to Google Docs, which was a relief for my hands.

My problems as a writer with conventional note-taking methods.

Although I enjoy typing my articles, I still resorted to pen and paper when taking notes for research. However, over some time, I had problems with this approach.

  • Hand-written notes became wasteful of paper, ink, and time.

  • Constant writing for hours resulted in hand cramps and discomfort.

  • After writing page after page, it quickly became disorganized, especially when having more than one project.

  • There’s no save file. Accidentally throwing out a piece of paper or losing it meant it was gone and having to do the work all over again. Who wants to do that?

So, I began typing my notes online instead. However, more problems arise the more I would do my research. Even trying to find apps for some help caused a lot of stress, wasting more of my time.

  • Lots of note-taking programs can be costly.

  • Typing up notes can be a time-consuming task that drained my laptop’s battery life, making me on a time limit.

  • Distractions! The longer I have to type up notes, the more I tend to get sidetracked with random tabs.

  • Finding the right image can be time-consuming for writers who keep collections on their computers or the web. Lots of mindless scrolling to find the picture I had just saved.

  • It’s easy to lose or forget important information from a website when skimming through multiple sites or documents.

  • It was always harder to manage different formats of information.

  • Digital notes scattered across different platforms like Notepad, bookmarks, and pictures in the library are very difficult to categorize and refer back to.

But then I stumbled upon a discovery that completely transformed the way I take notes!

That’s when I was reached out by Zhook to try out their extension.

https://heyzhook.com/

At this point, I was ready to try pretty much anything. I was having a hard time with my note-taking, saving web content into one spot, and organizing my research.

At first, I assumed it to be a digital note-taking app like any other but then I realized after I was approached by Zhook to try it out and after my experience, I wanted to write about it.

So here’s how it went:

I was able to download the extension and started using it without any hassle!

I began my next article, Loggerhead Sea Turtle Endangered: Save the Turtles!

As I was doing my research, I was able to highlight any information, click save to Zhook, and it would save it for me in Google Docs instantly, organized and all!

When I began writing my article, I was able to keep my notes on one side of my screen so I could look back at them with ease. I didn’t have to scramble and try to remember what tab was for what.

Everything I had saved while doing research, I could edit and move images over quickly, not missing any information I had ready.

I was blown away by the real help I was getting and couldn’t believe it was free!

After downloading, the web app will ask you to connect your research to your favorite editor like Google Docs or Notion.

When opening a new tab, you can start a new document.

Hitting the home button on the top right corner shows notes taken previously.

When you start taking notes on the web using the right click, the Zhook web app saves research notes and organizes them into workspaces.

As you can see, it would have all my highlighted notes saved with the date and source, every time. It can also save pictures as well.

It’s seriously that simple.

Each workspace has wises that are actually notes saved by you.

If you wish to use Notion, here’s where you can connect Zhook to your research.

But if you don’t use either, you can always use Zhook on its own for your notes and research!

Using Zhook.

This made my notes so much easier to look at and compile without the hassle, and again, my hands were so relieved!

Writers know better how creativity is important, so when I’m busy being creative and learning new skills as a writer, Zhook is organizing my notes, and making me productive! Also with Zhook, I will never miss an idea.

I found having all the information and sources in a single tab incredibly helpful, allowing me to switch back and forth easily. This made the writing process much more efficient and quicker!

This is the best tool for those who love to use Notion or Google Docs, as it saves everything for you in real-time with the original links right there!

If you’re a writer, you need note-taking apps you can depend on. This way, you can spend less time waiting for inspiration to arrive and more time maturing your idea.

Here’s a 2-minute video on how Zhook works.

If you want to save time on note management and focus on writing, Zhook can be a useful tool to boost your productivity. Give it a try!
