I took a break from my writing. I could start to feel the weight of output sitting on my shoulders. The shift from ‘I have so many things I want to share and say!’ to ‘I have to stay up late and finish something worth reading because everyone is waiting for me’. At the same time, I grappled with my ADHD diagnosis, a drive across the country in our house-on-wheels, acceptance into a University course, homeschooling, and a relocation to an island in the South Pacific (with two back injuries, gastro, tonsillitis, and 3 cyclones thrown in for good measure). Yeah, things have been busy.
And with a move that took me 5,500km away from my base, I spent all my time pottering about on just 3 square kilometres of land, living in a traditional bungalow with intermittent power and two little kids. I got an epic tan, contracted a variety of infections, witnessed some spectacular sights, and learned so much about a brand new culture. I also felt my anxiety & ADHD very intensely, now that I was far removed from many of my coping mechanisms.
I felt elation and peace, as well as intense depression….
