Count your heartbeats

Count your heartbeats

Oct 17, 2020

What a harrowing experience it is to meet your teachers and parents at the same corner and realize how your birth is one of the biggest shams.

Flux is the inevitable truths of one’s life and the one who initiates change is a change maker but what if these cream of the crops were decided on the bias’s of marks they attain in the leadership exam (pastiche of SAT, ACT and other hooligans that decide the future of students across the world).

It seemingly sounds iniquitous and I am not expecting life to be fair here. But telling an elephant to climb a tree is question on morality. Nonetheless, my parents interrogate my worth whenever I strive to do something creative which I find to be utterly dim-witted and an impediment to initiate change and be a god to those who cannot worship.

In the country where I reside, marks are of utmost significance, it’s on a manacle of 100 decides the future of a child who wishes to be a contributor. Some may apply their wits and ask, what’s so harrowing in this, and the thing that pesters all of us is the ability and agility of instruction to push the gates to the ones who are non-agile and their marks, a constant paves their career and they are fit to be a docile/ employee. Writing this all in a gush is definitely overwhelming because as I pen this pensiveness, I realize that the marks that I have scored is not even to a mediocre university. What’s amusing is how whenever I ask my seniors “which college will you all prefer?” they answer wittingly “whatever college gives us the entry pass.” on the other hand, my seniors also remarks how in the near/far future, competitive exams will decide in which college you are most likely to pave a way.

However, that is ironic too because in the need numbers are required to count the heartbeats and it decides how much number is required for you to stay alive but in the contrary, these numbers do not stay constant like the marks I have secured in the midterm will perk say not stay constancy. Dynamic stuff is the measure of survival of the fittest. In the end, this also pesters me because the previous marks have not been in compliance with my efforts so, what is the guarantee if I may flounder or rise.

All in all, it gives a ray of hope, a silver lining in the dark clouds that keep rushing above my head which is befuddled whether extracurricular reading and improving my brain will mend my future or the parrot system of education and the number of marks I score will create my destiny. Well, they all say it is a matter of balance but I prefer inclination.
