The world is full of weight loss programs. Some are more extreme than others, but how do you know which one to choose? One thing that's true for all of them is that they require some sort of commitment. Whether it be up front or ongoing, the key to success lies with your dedication and willingness to stick with the program during tough times. For me personally, I'm still trying to find my perfect fit so I can't give a definitive answer on which weight loss program is best for everyone. But I can tell you what works well for me and might work for you too!
I started out in January at around 172 pounds. I am currently at 150, which was my goal. I lost the first twenty pounds easily, hitting nearly my goal weight, within two months. I did not strive. I did not starve. I did not do anything extreme. I did three things:
I started to walk 6,000 steps a day at minimum (this is about 2.5 miles)
I started to eat less carbs (the standard American diet suggests I eat 250 carbs a day; yikes! no wonder I couldn't lose weight and felt sluggish)
I planned the walks and what I was going to eat daily
That's how I lost the weight and have been able to keep it off.
The lower carb food type of "diet" is basically like a dirty keto diet. I eat about 50 net carbs a day. High protein and fat meals. For a point of reference, 20 net carbs a day is the sweet spot for keto.
The most important step was the planning. When you plan your life you plan your success. If you don't commit to writing it down and carving out the time to think about what you want and then make a simple plan to follow through, you can lose the weight in a crash diet but you will only end up gaining that, and a bit more, back.
When first planning your meals I suggest you keep it as simple as possible. Look for substitutions that are pre-made. The focus is to give you a quick win and pre-packaged meals, while yes, maybe not the best, is still better than what you are feeding yourself.
The goal is FAST results. The faster some kind of result, the more you will commit to it because you have proof it's working.
So what is the best weight loss program out there? The one you stick to.
Find what works for you. Start something and keep it as simple as possible. Create the time for daily walking. Invest in yourself by making a plan for simple quick and tasty meals.
Need some suggestions? I'm happy to help! Leave a comment and I'll share more of what is working for me.
