All I knew at the beginning was that I wanted to be an artist. I was born in northern Alberta where the art market is very slow. So nowadays, I work in my home office on Vancouver Island painting and stacking up originals and prints to sell at local markets. My cat Arietty helps too, usually as a lap warmer. After a lot of money spent and mistakes made, I’m starting to get the hang of it. All I can say to anyone who wants to do what they love for a living, don’t give up. Read a lot. And I haven’t quite made it to my success story yet. I still work two other jobs. But don’t stop practicing. Somebody out there will like what you’re doing. And put your heart into it. And remember to get your business license.
