This past week we launched something I've been working on for the last six months: a limited run silk scarf and pocket square, designed with the wonderful Rory Hutton, to fund the restoration of the West Room here at Mapperton.
That room hasn't been touched in more than sixty years. The same curtains have hung at its windows since before the moon landing—faded pale down one side, pelmets stained with water marks. If we raise the funds, it gets hand-painted silk wallpaper, damask blinds and upholstery woven in England, and an 18th century beautiful old daybed reupholstered at last.

To everyone who has already bought—thank you. I don't think you quite understand what you've set in motion.
But several of you have said, kindly and honestly, that the scarf is beyond what you can spend at the moment. I completely understand. It's silk, it's designed in England, made in Italy, and it isn't a small thing.
So here are some other ways in, and you'll find them all on this page:
☕ $5 (one coffee)—a personalised digital certificate saying you helped make it happen, framed by all twelve of the Mapperton motifs.
☕ $25 (five coffees)—the certificate, plus a digital wallpaper of the whole scarf design for your phone and desktop.
☕ $50 (ten coffees)—the certificate, the wallpaper, and all twelve motifs as individual digital stickers.
Every penny goes into the same place: that room.
And if a pocket square is within reach—£100 rather than the full scarf—it remains the most useful thing you could possibly do.
Look closely at the design and you'll find twelve motifs, one for every chapter of my life as the 12th Countess of Sandwich. There are peacocks. There's Alberta Montagu's House of Worth gown. There's the Montagu family tiara I wore on my wedding day. There's even my pink swimming cap, which I'm told is now famous whether I like it or not. And, there is a Sandwich with a capital 'S', of course.
One scarf will be framed and hung in the finished West Room, so that when visitors stand in it in fifty years, the story they hear isn't only about the earls and countesses who slept there. It's about you.
