The Sea of the Mind
Upon the waves the sun rebounds,
and in the distance the island of the mind exists,
with wide thoughts behind.
Purpled skies at last,
now shedding their light,
bring stars to glisten
upon the blue waves
that swell on cragged rocks
leaving a linen whiteness.
Pines stand against the moon,
upon a darkened cliff,
and the wind blows cool.
It streams across a world of thought,
toils with straining, sea-sailing ships,
and in the mind at sea it rests,
till our sandy walk is done
and we somehow leave this land.
