I enrolled in a class on how to work with gouache, and it has been frustrating because it is such a different medium from oil painting, which I love. I figured that gouache dries faster than acrylics, which was surprising. However, I cannot ignore the beauty of its simplicity and opaqueness.
Last week, I was so frustrated that I made four points about why it is so frustrating working with gouache, haha. To that extent, I was lost, and the medium was really hard to work with.
Over the past few days, I have contemplated how I can work with gouache more easily and how I want to move forward with my painting journey. I decided to paint small works with gouache, focusing on one object and making it more loose and simple.
Many people misunderstand that painting the simplified version is easy; however, I found it to be extremely difficult. It is hard to distinguish what to draw and what not to.
Through this experience, I have decided to create a gouache painting every day, starting today!
I will post each one either here or on Substack on 'Lauren Studies French', because it allows me to upload an image or a video straight from my phone.
By the way, I have submitted a query to Buy Me a Coffee that it does not allow me to upload a .heic image file (the default image format when you take a photo with an iPhone), and I also cannot upload an image with using the app, fingers crossed!
Anyway, I will keep you posted, cheers to my first attempt!
