With the Federal Election coming up, I'm thinking about all you organisers, campaigners, advocates and activists who are fighting for a better future across so-called Australia.
I know volunteers and organisers are working to the bone door-knocking, writing letters, having conversations, making petitions and taking action to kick out the Morrison Government, and I am right there alongside you.
I am so lucky to work with and share my art with so many like-minded folks across the whole spectrum of the progressive movement, including trade unionists, disability justice advocates, climate action campaigners, anti-racism organisers and refugee rights activists. I feel really privileged to know my work resonates with you across all these values I care about.
And I also know how exhausting it is to maintain hope, to keep taking consistent action and to fight for your values against systemic injustice. Whatever the outcome of the election, we need to remember prison abolitionist Mariame Kaba's fighting words: "Hope is a discipline."
