Working on a new project is always fun in the beginning. The possibilities are endless, and the story can unfold in so many different ways.
When writing a simple synopsis, or blurb, about a new novel, it's important to me to capture the tone of the story as well as the pertinent elements. I want my readers to be drawn into the story, not just have the facts about the plot.
To that end, I bring you the synopsis (or back cover blurb) for Not According To Plan! , my latest project.
Sarah Abernathy and Elizabeth Cartwright have always been at odds -- ever since grade school. They fought like the proverbial cats and dogs all through primary and secondary education, their rivalry spurring each on to excel past the other in academic achievement.
Both attended the wedding of a fellow classmate and, on getting rather drunk toward the end of the evening, made an inebriated pact between the two of them that, if neither of them was attached romantically and permanently by the time they were both 30, they would marry each other. While, at the time, this seemed a silly joke, neither one realized the power of their words, or the fact that each of them took it seriously in her heart of hearts.
Follow along on the whirlwind adventures of Abernathy and Cartwright as they sabotage each other's relationships over the next decade in the hope that the pact might come to fruition.
