When someone says "that is unrealistic", I hope you respond with "not for me".
It is so easy for us to get trapped in a moment.
To lose track of time, days, weeks and months.
What happens if we switch that feeling of trapped to a feeling of learning?
We turn each moment, day, week and month into something we can feel. Something we can listen to and learn from.
It's easy to feel trapped.
Drive for 14 hours, half of it in the desert with no restrooms and you will feel trapped.
But - there's the other side.
Drive for 14 years, half of it in the desert with no service and you will feel.
You will talk, you will write, you will sing, and you will listen.
So, 12 states in one month. Well that's not very common nor normal.
How can we take our journey and place it into a normal lifestyle?
If we break it down it isn't that unrealistic.
Instead of always eating the same meal on the menu at the favorite hole on the whole restaurant you go to maybe you ask the waiter, "hmm, what do you like?" and you get to try a new plate.
Instead of driving down the interstate taking the fast way or getting cooped up at a busy intersection, you take the "slower" more scenic way home. On this scenic route maybe you notice the different plants, the different fields, the different stores that you pass. Perhaps you pull off to the side somewhere safe just for you and look at this new view. Maybe you can see the clouds change for sunset or sunrise.
Instead of coming home and instantly turning the tv on or getting lost in a scroll of different news feeds, you step out onto a patio or curl up in your comfy seat and call a friend, a loved one, or maybe someone you haven't talked to in a couple weeks, months or even years.
Packing up a car and driving across the nation isn't as far fetched as you think.
I thought it was impossible.
I thought, there's no way someone LIKE ME could do something LIKE THAT.
Yet I did.
And it's because I've been doing it every day of my life. I allow myself moments that are just for me, I listen deeply and I trust.
And you can too.
It all starts when you say yes when someone asks you if want to try a new flavor of tea they mixed up. Or when you walk to see the sunset and you sit at a different place where you make a new friend that you wouldn't have met if you'd sat away. Or when someone has coffee with you and says "let's go on a roadtrip", you answer YES because you know the universe has your back.
Listen to your calling.
It's always right there, getting you ready, every single day.
So now when someone says "that is unrealistic", I hope you respond with "not for me".
